Thank you to those who entered the 2012 Oaktoberfest Homebrew Competition, and to those who came to Oaktoberfest on October 6th, 2012 to see us announce the awards live (at 1:50 PM) on the Main Stage of the festival. Here is a complete list of winners: Oaktoberfest-Winners-List-2012.pdf
This year we are proud to report that we had a record number of participants, with 66 entries total, across 21 BJCP Categories of German beers. The competition was very healthy this year, and we expanded to 7 judging tables for the first time. This means we were able to give out 7 full sets of ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place within each Category Grouping ("Table"). Congratulations to the winners and especially our BEST OF SHOW winner Bill Lynch, from the Carolina Brewmasters, for his phenomenal Classic Rauchbier. Honorable Mention goes to Virg Redman from Vacaville, CA (2nd BOS) for his excellent Vienna Lager, as well as to Paul Brown of DOZE (3rd BOS) for an amazing Roggenbier.
Special thanks to everyone including our judges, stewards, staff, judging location (the HopYard Alehouse in Pleasanton) who made this competition possible. Also, we greatly appreciate all of our entry locations (listed below) for their part in coordinating the incoming entries.
